Marmot demo day was created by khyak
I just wanted to thank Marmot for putting on another excellent demo event. Unfortunately the weatherman's hype seemed to lower attendance slightly below last years. For all you that stayed home, there was no rain, and actually it was pretty clear all evening. All you who didn't come, missed out on an excellent opportunity to try a wide variety of skis. They had reps for BD, Atomic, G3, and K2. Plus they brought a selection of the store's demo fleet. They even had adrenalins and endorphins to demo. There was a ton of staff, and no wait to switch out skis. I tried about 6 pair of skis and found several I liked and more importantly found several that I really didn't like! This is definitely the best demo day for randonee and telemark skiers in the Seattle region. Thanks again to Marmot for another great event.

Wish I'd known about this. I'm thinking about buying one of those Garmont boots but probably won't pull the trigger unless I get to try em. Now it looks like I'll just wait til next years event unless I find some used ones.
This is the only site I visit and am wondering if we can get an advanced warning of this on TAY next year, or is that too commercial? It seems like this demo day is quite a service which overrules any negative commercial aspects. Is REI or any one else having a demo day later this year?.

So Kevin, which ones did you like besides the Stelvio Freeride and Kailas?

Looking for a ski slightly wider than my atomic tmx ski, I tried the Kailas, Kilowatt, Dynafit FR10(gray topsheet), G3 Ace, Trab stelvio and K2 Baker. The Ace and Dynafit came in last. The Trab skied nicely, the Kilowatt did not carve on hardpack, the Baker was acceptable and the Kailas was my favorite given the conditions. 4" of mush in the bowl that skied sweet until the temps dropped, and a somewhat hard groomer under the lift.

Get something a little wider than the Stelvio Freerides so you can break trail for me next month.
