Nice places to stay in the Methow was created by Mjölnir
The wife and I are thinking about heading up to the Methow to do some mellow x-c skiing in January. We were looking at lodging there and were looking for some first hand recommendations for nice, somewhat romantic, places to stay. We've considered renting one of the ski-in huts for an evening and will probably do that. Anyone have a favorite place in the valley? We were hoping to get something with a fireplace in the room..
We're also trying to keep costs down so the Sun Mtn would be nice but is a bit pricey...
Thanks!

We've rented through Methow Central Reservations several times, renting private cabins that are close to the MVT. The cabins tend to be 2 BR and up but there are some smaller ones up on Lost River Road too. pretty good deals and well taken care of, good for families. You'll get more for your money that way than at Freestone or Sun Mt.
Wolf Creek is pretty nice, and you can get smaller units. They're sorta like cabins but with shared walls, which can be annoying if you have particularly loud neighbors.
In the Rendesvouz system, you have the option of renting a bunk or the whole cabin. If you're there midweek, it might be worth taking a chance and renting two bunks; most of the time the cabins do not all fill midweek. Heifer Creek and Fawn Creek are the least popular ones.

Cool! Thanks for the advice. We'll probably go for the cabin rental in Mazama for the entire stay - beats moving around too much..

Chewuch Inn has Romantic Country cabins that are very nice. Winthrop Country Chalets are almost as nice and very well priced, but only one of those has a fireplace.
