Elk Meadows Bridge Out on Hood was created by WhiteSalmon
Sunday Dec. 10: We planned to take a peek up Newton via the Elk Meadows trail from the Nordic Center parking lot, but alas, the bridge across Clark has a tree in the middle of it. We were tempted to cross on a small snow covered couple of logs. We discussed the implications of falling in, especially falling in on the way back if got dark, or if the dog fell in. We decided it wasn't probably worth it. So we skinned up Heather Canyon ski track and were amazed at the new course the river has taken. Sadly the big wall on the east side near the bottom of the Heather lift is now washed seriously washed away, probably hampering those turns in a big way. :-[ It snowed then turned to rain but the snow was turnable in the afternoon.

Thanks for the info! Over on TTips we had speculated if the little bridge would still be in place. It was such a fun bridge to cross. We had a friend, Ann, who was really fond of it. She'll be sad to hear of its demise.
RIP little bridge.
Here's a few photos of crossing it: Ann 1 Ann 2
Thanks again for posting. I hope you don't mind if I share your report with a few others.
PS: It looks like there are tracks on the other side of the little bridge?

Yes, someone did make it across the log bridge. That is why we were tempted to go but thought better of it. It will be a long way around now. Cool pictures of the bridge Thank you. Tell Ann that I think they will be able to fix it, but probably not til next year.
