This is the one off SR 410 before the Crystal turn off. Has anyone skied up there? I've ridden up it on my mountain bike to ride the trails back down. Looks like it would be a nice XC ski tour. There's some open areas up top. The road is steep so you shouldn't have to hike too far to get to snow. There's a gate at the bottom. Do snowmos go up there? Anyone want to give it a try?

I've been up there once or twice... I was unimpressed. The terrain is pretty treesy given the elevation. It's also in the Rainier rain shadow.

Many years ago the Mountaineers scheduled trips there often. Then snow machines ruined the fun and the trip is seldom done recently.
Potentially the area would be good for spring turns when you could get up to open slopes fast. In practice the road is kept gated until the snow is almost gone.
Besides access from Corral Pass it's also possible to access the area from Noble Knob and from Deep Creek. Neither of these routes is done often.

most every late winter early spring I like to take a fishscale tour up there. Tho I have seen tracks most times when up there, in all the half dozen times I have been up there I have not see any bilers active. Its fairly low angle and not much for those who love the steeps, I usually cut south a little bit before the pass and head up a low angle bowl towards castle Peak Lots of short 500-800 ft runs with different aspects. Toured up there once last year and bivied out on top of the ridge on a quiet night........great stars.
I think it's a fairly pleasent tour which does not see alot of traffic...........okay with me!!

About 55-60 years ago Corral Pass Rd was a small ski area (no lifts though) with a warming hut, parking and ski rentals...... 50 years of tree growth pretty much cover up any evidence of that though...
