I agree with the vertical adherents. I have found it fairly easy to lean forward when crossing under branches. You soon get a feel for where the tip of the board is and it does not take much lean to clear most obstacles. Definitely carry it high enough to avoid the dreaded ankle clip. Attention to packing the pack is helpful, if you can fill the bottom more than the top, the board will lean forward and keep the weight on your hips. The only negative I've experienced with vertical carry was high winds on the volcanos.
