Old Mt Baker ski pix

I have spent many an hour digitizing and Photoshop cleaning the slide collection of Sig McGuire, who is the guy who built the Mt. Baker ski area to what it was before being bought out by the current Mt Baker Recreation company.

These were taken between 1947 and 1956.  I will be posting more as I get around to them, including some pre-war backcountry scans from old black and white photographs.

I remember that rope tow. Scared me to death as a kid. Is the buried cabin Dr. Otto Trott's place? Stayed there a couple of times as a junior racer . . .

Amazing photos and nice work on the restoration. I enjoy seeing the history behind our ski areas, but I've never seen anything like those! I particularly fancy the Shuksan and arm photo. Looking forward to seeing more!

Great work, it is good to have a refresher in our deep history. It makes me appreciate the now when we'll call it the old.

They made less turns (and larger ones) down that slope then most people do now. Looks like there is a fracture line off to lookers left underneath the cornice (partially buried by new snow).
