How sweet it is!....a personal best

I am proud to say that after all these years in the mountains I am still able to establish a personal best! I picked over a gallon of blueberries (using conventional methodology - my fingers) Saturday and Sunday near Baker. The task was made easier by areas of 3/8" diameter berries. I might have come home with twice as many if I hadn't been such a pig while picking.

Fall colors changed a whole lot between mid last week and this weekend and colors are now spectacular. Some berries may have been damaged by a freeze Friday night above about 4800'.

The blueberry season has had a fairly long weekly 'streak' going this year. The picking was already rewarding when Silas and I visited the Ptarmigan Ridge in early August and was still easy a month later. Of course, there were other things to do on the Ridge besides feasting on blueberries.
