MTN biking just like Skiing was created by Scotsman
I have started mountain biking with my son on forest single track and it is terrific fun.
I was at Banner Forest, a single track area on the Kitsap Penisula yesterday and it started raining making the roots very slippery.
The falls I was taking where so spectacular ( headfirst over the bars, complete sumersaults etc. ) that the other riders , all better than me , where all taking turns going behind me so they could watch my falls. Not much different than when I am skiing really as those that know me will attest to!
By the end of the session I managed to be bleeding from each leg and one arm. But the best was listening to my son tell his mother, " Dad's really spastic on a bike, Mom. It's worth taking him just to watch him fall!"
It's humbling to know that you are being invited soley as a scource of amusement.!

Hahahaha, so I wasn't the only one crazy enough to go out riding yesterday...don't worry, you're not alone on the falling part!
I rode with a small group yesterday in the Capital Forest down by Olympia, and one particular longish section of trail was this hard packed red clay that seemed as slick as ice when it rained. The result was multiple crashes for everybody; it was so funny to see usually fearless riders picking their way down the trail at a crawl, only to have their wheels slip out from underneath and send them flying into the bushes anyway.
Guess that goes to show that no matter how good you think you are, mountain biking will still have plenty to throw you off, just like skiing does sometimes... Ride on!
