Howdy, I am trying to find out what snow coverage is like to Maple Pass area. Has anyone traveled HWY 20 to Rainy Pass area for some turns ? I am thinking of a skin up to the pass above Lake Ann.

Based on last weekend's conditions, I'd expect a couple of feet of dirty snow in the woods around Rainy Pass (therefore some awkwardness descending at the end of the day, but nothing serious), with maybe four feet or so up around Maple and Heather Passes. I don't know whether south and west ridgetops will be burned bare as they are further east, but it's a possibility. North and east aspects are probably quite fine: stable even when not refrozen overnight, not too desperately suncupped.

Hope that helps. (All the usual caveats apply.)

Thanks, markharf - we'll give er' a go and see what we find . I looked at Snotel , but I,m not sure of their snow depths at this time of year (reliability).
