Beat me to it, Jeff.

When I started out in Southern California, I eventually discovered 3 day weekends at Mammoth and even some time up there during the off season. I'm well aware of the tree die off & gas emissions in the area but I never knew that there was something active within the ski area!

Just to emphasize what a freak and tragic accident this was, a friend of mine reported that he had skied immediately alongside the fencing in question earlier that same morning. Scotty was Rookie of the Year and psyched to be a patroller. We had a great time "tag-teaming" Bear Creek Spire last summer, and I will miss his infectious enthusiasm.
