Replied by scotteryx on topic Cascade Pass / Sahale Arm Conditions
I'll post a TR later today, but we left Saturday morning in the rain and headed up to Sahale. We decided to hike the trail because of so much snow melt, did not seem thesible to hike up the direct route. I was the only one skiing, so I suffered the most :(

Sloppy conditions on Saturday, but it firmed up nicely on Saturday night for some sunset turns when the sun came out for a few hours.
I'll post some pics of Cascade Pass and lower basin later today under TR's

Direct route is still the way to go if you have skis... probably took less than 10 minutes to descend from the pass to the road, including the talus hopping.  Much of the snowbridge over the stream next to the dirt embankment collapsed sometime yesterday though.  Probably gone by end of week?

Edit: south face of Bucker still looked sweet!

Hey Phil, nice to meet you. We did wind up going up towards the Cascade Spice Couloir and got a good view of the direct route down and I really wished I would havebeen able to ski it, but since I was leading our newby group we had to stick together and walk the group down. What did you guys wind up doing?

We skied the "buttery corn" that Paul mentioned, from Pelton-Magic and Cache cols.

Glad you were able to get your injured party member out safely :-)
