Here is a link to general Forest Service info on climbing Mt. Adams:

www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/recreation/mount-adams/

My understanding is that the trailhead starts just below 6,000 feet, and the road to the trailhead doesn't open until late May or Early June. I'm not sure of the exact distance, but I believe this will add 3-5 miles to your trip in April. I would definitely call the FS for the latest road info.

You'll find a fair number of early season TRs for Adams if you look a few years back and do the figgering of what month meant "early" for that particular year. Starting from Morrison Creek seems reasonable, much below that maybe not so much. Car-inpenetrable snowline now I'm sure is well below Morrison. cascadeclimbers perhaps worth a look too. Noteworthy is that several people trying Adams last winter got caught by the onset of 'second winter' and got their cars well stuck at various points of the road, one with even more unpleasantness than normal because someone vandalized their unattended vehicle later (so lame...). I'd be cautious of trying any early season trip where you try pushing the road with cars unless you've got a good weather window.

Ranger lady says snowline is pretty low and its probably an extra 10 miles in to the normal starting pt. This could get better or worse in the next 3 weeks.

The access road is no sure thing. Not only the snow, but they occasionally have to repair wash outs and remove fallen trees. Would be a good idea to check with the rangers.

April seems early to approach that mountain. Don't underestimate it's weather. Seems to me that like Mt. Rainier, Adams creates some of it's own weather.

In the summer you might meet some cows on that winding road through the woods. As I approached late one June night, there were people in sleeping bags on the roadside at Morrison Creek... kind of spooky driving in. The road up to cold creek had fallen trees over it and snow.
