Climbing Skins -- What's the Better Option

Anyone have any thoughts as to which would be a better pair of skins -- the Black Diamond Ascensions or the Glidelites?<br><br>FYI: if anyone is looking for a pair of new skins REI has some killer deals on their remaining Black Diamond Ascensions -- they had some 90 mm, 95 mm and 100 mm pair for as low as $75, which is lower than anything I've seen recently on the web.

iluka, I can't help with the comparison, but I can say that my purple Ascensions have been great. I've been using them for 3 years now without any tail attachment (they came as bare skins) and they still stick fine at the end of a day of yo-yo skiing. I will eventually need to attach the tail, but not yet.<br><br>Thanks for the REI tip. I'm heading down there right now to pick up a pair of 100mms. They are supposed to be the STS version. Hard to beat $75 for a normal $135 pair of skins. I will try to get an inventory count and report back here.

OK, I got my skins (BD Ascension STS, orange, complete with tip, tail, bag, etc) and made a count of what's left - it sounds like they have been going fast and a lot are on hold for people to pick up. You can call REI Seattle store at 223-1944.<br><br>What's left, as of noon today (not much):<br>2 @ 90mm, $75<br>1 @ 110mm, $85<br>1 labeled 120mm but they look like they are pre-trimmed, $90<br><br>That appears to be all unless some of the holds get put back out.<br>

Hey Charles...<br><br>I have a pair of the purple ascensions without tails as well and have found them prett reliable. Like yourself, I grabbed a pair of the orange STS ones as the price looked too good.<br><br>Thanks for getting the inventory. I think folks will benefit. I'm sure REIOutlet.com will likely have some stuff up there soon as well since I think they pull their ski gear from the stores on April 1 and it goes to the outlet.<br>
