Yes -- that's the route followed by the summer hiking trail. It's an less steep, but longer route than coming directly up Rocky Run creek.

Coming directly up Rocky Run Creek is shorter, but involves more off trail and working through replanted areas. There are some old logging spurs that work partway through the replanted clearcuts. Plum Creek (the land owner) has planted slide alder on the lower sections of these roads as an effective wheelstop. However if you look carefully you might find a path barely wide enough for a skier trimmed through these trees -- as if someone with loppers had cleared a path big enough for a skier, but not wide enough for a snow machine. Cutting through the "Christmas Trees" between the end of the logging spurs and upper logging roads is still possible with a deep snowpack -- but it's getting more diffcult each year.

Thanks for the additional info Randy... Amazing, that gaps in slide alder might grow at a perfect skier width and give a "loppered" appearance. Ahh, the miracles of nature.
