Thanks for the replies. We have a VW westfalia van, so it's sort of non-descript. It does not take up a lot of room like a full RV rig. I think we'll try our luck in one of the day lots, and if we get kicked out, try the RV park for a night.

It seems like lot 4 used to be preferred for overnight use, so we'll probably try that.
I slept in lot 4 probably 4 nights last season w/o trouble, but haven't yet this season. I'd guess that the ban might be selectively enforced depending on what your vehicle looks like and how many night you are around.

Hmm... Maybe I can leave a cold frosty or plate of cookies on the bumper in order to ensure some of that "selective enforcement" 8)

Try the parking lot at The Shoe String Lodge. It's pretty big. If you keep it low keyed , I think you could get away with it.

Plus The Boot Pub doubles as a strip club on certain nights 8)
An RCMP woke me up at midnight while parked in an Alberta day-use picnic area. It was clear we were just on a road trip and he was a fairly nice guy, but Alberta doesn't allow roadside overnight parking. He told me that if I drove west (we were in Jasper at the time) and crossed into BC, I could park anywhere on the side of the road and it was legal, as long as I wasn't obstructing traffic (i.e. I was more than a couple of feet off the road).

Never tried it at Whistler and snow removal might make it an issue, but it might be worth poking around near or just outside the village to see if you could find a useable pullout.

Marcus

A few years ago I sleeping in the backseat of my SUV in the Whistler lot closest to the lift, when security knocked on my window and told me to move to a back lot, which I did. About 2am, a guy doing donuts in the lot in his 70's model Buick, plastered with ski stickers, T-boned me and pushed my truck sideways across the lot into a snow bank, where I was stuck. I couldn't go after the guy but his ride was unmistakable. I easily found his car the next morning in an employee lot, the back seat filled with empties. This story ultimately had a happy ending (for me!)
