Chic Scott has put out some great guide books for backcountry skiing in Canada and a history book on mountaineering in Canada. Powder Pioneers covers all aspects of skiing (including lift and heli skiing, competitions, and snowboarding) as well as backcountry skiing. Paperback, 240 pages, about 100 B&W photos,16 pages of color photos $ US 25. I thought it was well written and found the chapters on extreme skiing and the grand traverses the most interesting.
