Required reading at Evergreen? Now that's an oxymoron.

<br>You are quite correct -- what was I thinking?!?!?  -- "What requirements -- we don't need no stinkin' requirements"<br>

Some of my classmates got credit for following the Grateful Dead. I wonder if you could get credit for being a ski bum or for becoming the first president of Cascadia.

Ernest C visited my class at TESC back in the early 90's. He freely admits Ecotopia was a little dated, but the idea is still a good one. At the time he mentioned he was working on a new book that looked at the idea of taking Montana, Wyoming, North and South Dakota and turning it into one giant plains land park. The park would have millions of buffalo and giant wind generator fields. I guess the wind that blows through that area would be more than enough to power North America. Too bad it will never happen. FYI, Androolus you can get credit for being a ski bum at TESC. I got credit for climbing and mt. biking the alps.

One advantage that I see is that there would be a country very close to the US that could be invaded so that representative government and freedom could be established. The only casualties to US troops would be hurt feelings from sharp liberal tongues (or belly aches from sustained laughing) since citizens of such a country would not be allowed to possess weapons, and there would be no significant military for self defense. Also, that proximity would reduce the overall consumption of fossil fuels. <br><br>But seriously, get over it, many of us survived eight years of President Clinton and his Administration. <br><br>In regard to all of this talk by certain folks wanting to leave the US- please don't tease me, just go. Please move to Canada, France, Iran, or wherever ASAP and please carry an environmentalist under one arm and a plaintiff attorney under the other.<br><br>Thank you and Merry Christmas.
