Dear spiltboarders of the Northwest,
My backcountry partner and I had an unplanned overnight outing on Saturday night, at Skyline Ridge. A significant factor in this was an equipment problem on a splitboard, and on Sunday morning we left our splitboards, bindings, and skins on Skyline Ridge. They were spotted later on Sunday by a friend of ours on a tour in the area as well.

We are hoping to return on Wednesday morning by snowshoe to see if we can recover the lost gear, but I am posting here in case someone else will be in the area sooner, or already has the gear, or we find ourselves unable.

We would like to offer a reward of $100 (plus our thanks!) for each set of gear to anyone who does retrieve them, and we will travel to you (within reason) to pick up the gear.

One set is a Voile Split Decision splitboard, tractor skins, and Ride bindings on Voile interface plates. The other set is a Burton Split-S board, tractor skins, and Burton Mission bindings on Burton interface plates. Our best guess of the location is 47 degrees 45.80 minutes N by 121 degrees 5.07 minutes W at about 4200 feet of altitude, though we could easily be off by a quarter mile in any direction. The link below indicates the spot on a topo map with a red "x" in the center.

The gear is in a fairly deep hole or primitive cave that we dug just at the top of a wide band of trees that runs across the lower part of the ridge. A skin track with boot & pole prints leads pretty clearly from the location up to the ridge top.

If you have information about this gear, or you have retrieved it, I would be grateful to hear about it. You can email me at rmprice1 at msn.com.
Travel Safely,
Rob

www.topozone.com/map.asp?lat=47.76333333...0845&datum=nad83&u=7

sorry to hear about your unexpected adventure up there...

would you be willing to expand a bit on what happened? (perhaps you'd prefer to not think about it anymore)...I guess I've always been a little curious about the story that goes along with those random abandoned skis and boards that folks occationally find in the backcountry, even if your equipment was busted, why leave it behind?

Any suggestions to readers as to how your bivy could've been prevented? specific spare parts in your repair kit? headlamps? since you listed coordinates of your dumped gear, seems like you might've had a gps.

Fortunately it hasn't snowed much since the weekend, I hope you can find your gear.

i skied out moonlight bowl on Saturday and saw you guys up at the ridge as we left. It was a tough call for us to leave while we saw you guys still up top; however, we were just getting out before nightfall ourselves. I'm glad to hear you made it out ok, but I have mixed feelings about not hiking back up to help out. We didn't see any noticeable distress from you guys, so figured you knew what you were doing. I need to worry less about my own deadline next time I suppose.
