newbie looking for advice... was created by jondufay
hey all,
this year i have decided to huck my alpine gear and go tele. i bought a used tele set up from second ascent (my new favorite place) including skins. i was originally going to hike the runs at the summit and ski down to become proficient at the tele turn, but it looks like the summit isn't really down with that anymore. where do i go now?

jon

You go back to Second Ascent and buy some AT gear; that's what you do now.

Try Summit East (Hyak). I've skied there several times (including yesterday) with no trouble and no encounter with the gendarmes. Try the Kendall Peak clearcut-- see posting under trip reports a few days ago. You might want to learn the basics by lift skiing a few days. The day after I first got my teles I skinned up Sliver Basin at Crystal and fell on every single turn on the way down. I could barely crawl back to the car.
