McCue ridge has supposedly got easily accessible 1000 ft. shots. There is a ton of sick terrain in that area it seems, but avys and access might be a problem.

I've been there a number of times. There is a lot of enjoyable terrain. The woodfired sauna and hot tub are a great way to relax after a day's skiing too.

McCue ridge is a nice destination for a 1/2 day trip from camp. It's a good place to go for an afternoon ski on the day you arrive. (The road shuttle and snow-machine lift to high camp take a while) I often ascent via "Mac's Express" and "Cliff Hanger" to access McCue ridge. The little trail maps that they provide don't show a connection between the top of "Clif Hanger" and McCue ridge -- because the route between then traverses along a knife edge ridge for a 50 yards or so and an unwary traveller might get into trouble. The marked (bamboo poles) route down McCue ridge offers enjoyable turns and then leads onto "Wild Bill Hill" directly above camp -- is is fun when there is enough snow to cover the young trees that are getting taller each year.

With a full day and reasonble weather -- a nice tour is to access the "High Meadows" above "Loc Elieen". Ski out the "High County" trail to it's end and then follow the "Lake Julius" trail and the north shoreline of Lake Julius to the upper end Lake Julius. From here work through forest and glades NW to the outlet of Loc Elieen. Cross the outlet of Loc Elieen and ascend the ridge just to the south. This ridge gets pretty narrow at one point -- but once you are past that the Larch meadows open up to wide open touring and turning terrain. The 7120 high point "Mt Baldy" is a common destination in good weather.

If the weather is foggy -- good turns on moderate terrain can be found on the numerous marked trails around high camp.
