Thanks for the suggestions folks, I'll add some steel wool and shop for one of those little rachet screw drivers/drill thingys. I already have some baling wire which did bale me out once long ago about half way through the Ptarmigan when I was on tele gear, but that was before I got smart and got some Dyna-Fit gear. ;D

One small alteration is to use "brass wool" instead of steel wool - doesn't rust as you carry it around for years without needing. I think the hunk I have has been in my kit for at least 15 years.

I prefer 12 gauge electric fence wire over bailing wire in my repair kit. It's thicker and the steel used is higher quality. Wire like this can be used solve many problems -- and is really the best thing if you have to craft a sled. On a multi-day trip I'll also carry an old '80s era 3Pin toe piece as a spare and some extra screws.

Anybody seen Mr. Grip for sale in a retail store? Used to have it at mid-Aurora Home Depot, but it's gone now . . .
