KEEP THEM COMING.
Pics help. They really do. I've never had the privilege of seeing the legendary PNW snowpack depths, so pics of newly familiar places neck deep with white stuff sure helps!

I've been doing what I call "weekly photo's" on my website since 1998 and I've saved them for visitors viewing. You can get a good idea as to when the snow arrives and melts, at least over the past 7 years by photo rather then stats. I'm currently updating my site a bit so some of the links may not work correctly until I'm done.

You will notice a big difference in photo quality over the years when I started with an Epson photoPC 640x480 camera in the early years, then a 2 meg, 3.1meg and just a few weeks ago I bought an SLR Digital 8.3meg. Can't wait til this winter to see what kind of shots I can get!!

hyak.net/cam/KEEP THEM COMING.
Pics help. They really do.
Those hyak pics are useful, gives an idea of when to start to really get antsy. From what I can tell, that answer would be "not yet". I guess I was under the impression that a "normal" winter meant skiable pass level snow by the beginning of November, when I'm used to lift-served area opening. Now that seems pretty rare. It's just too warm.

Snow levels are slowly inching down though. The WSDOT 10 day has them going up to 7500 and then back down to 4500 by next weekend. We just need some moisture (cold moisture) to go with it.
