Summited Rainier this weekend. The only decent snow I saw was on the Ingraham glacier just east/north of Cathedral rock around 11,000 feet. Huge crevasses and hairy access definitely make this an experts only trip (!!!!). You'd probably only get about 500 feet max of vert. Pretty icey before about 10 or 11 on a sunny morning. Could be done in a day. Requires crossing Cowlitz and Ingraham glaciers and "the bowling alley" (Cathedral rock) so anyone crazy enough to go through with it should rope up and wear a helmet. Do not attempt unless you are familiar with all hazards associated with glacier travel. Thanks and have a nice day.
