Sorry for hijacking this topic. I think I will back off now, we are heading in yet another direction. I like using the Avalung.<br><br>The discussion is great, and many have a lot of valuable knowledge and experience. My experience is offered, if it is helpful that is great. As I said, I feel that individuals need to understand for themselves.<br><br>Like many backcountry users, I am concerned at some individuals' route choices in the bc, primarily because I wonder if they understand the implications. Secondly, I am concerned about endless fascination with gear or etc. that takes away from sober consideration of the terrain and snowpack hazard.<br><br>Other than that, I enjoy the discussions of other ski tourers. <br><br>Maybe I will see some of you on the volcanoes on my occasional trips. Aside from that, I and my dog, wife, and ski partners will be on my closely-held powder stashes, happily burdened with the requisite gadgets.

As originator of this thread, I would like to thank you all for your contributions.
<br> It certianly was useful IMO and reinforced for me that practicing beacon &probe searches before the season is well underway is very important.<br><br>I intend to spend some time in the field at the start of the season doing some serious drills adn refreshing my avy skills.<br>Thanks everybody, great effort.<br>
