Thiokol Spryte move? was created by silaswild
Well, I hear there are lawyers, accountants, insurance agents, and more out here on tay just waiting to help the rest of us. How about someone with a vehicle capable of hauling 6000lb? I must move my vintage snowcat (1965) from Seattle to Mt. Vernon tomorrow, have trailer but no vehicle strong enough to pull the load.
It just fits under the wide load limit, so no special permit needed.

Please call me and leave a message 206-527-9453.

You can have dibs on our first cat ride of the 2005-06 season.

Hmm... if I put it in 4 low on the highway maybe, although it might pull the back half of my truck off. If day 1 is a powder day, it could be worth it.

Where do you (can you) take that thing anyway?

I'd love to buy an old rig like that. Looks like a blast.

Hey Silas,
Just saw your post or I'd have offered to help.
I was interested to hear about your snowcat. We are in the process of refurbishing an old snow cat we found on Adak island in the Aleutians when we where working there last winter. It will be ready for the season and I was wondering where you can legally take it for some decent descents. The one we have is an LNC? ;D

Silas, hope you found a puller....

OT, but this thread reminds me of an idea I had a few months ago. Since so much amazing skiing here can only be accessed via snowmobile (or day+ long approach skis...) and the cost of personally owning a machine is not quite feasible (for me, at least), what kind of interest is there in creating a ski-touring via snowmobile "club" of sorts. Basically it would work sort of like a timeshare, with a not-for-profit club actually owning the machine/machines and everyone who uses them paying some kind of annual due for maintainance. They would be kept in a storage facility in winter (so everyone has access), and moved to a less costly venue (somebody's garage/barn) in the summer months.

The machine itself should probably be a work snowmobile, basically a big 4 stroke with a wide track and capability of towing a trailer and/or skiers. They're spendy, but with enough people it might work out.

Thoughts?
