By renewing my Whistler Edge Card in April, I was able to ski until the end of May at $20.00 CAN. per day. So that decision is already made.
In previous years I had a limited pass at Stevens Pass (not last season, fortunately) because I enjoyed the terrain and I could ski out of the Mountaineer's cabin all weekend. However, my best friend, who is a host at that cabin, will likely not be skiing this winter (ligament damage). Without that incentive I will likely not renew there.
I get Fridays off, so it makes more sense to ski cheap Fridays at Baker than get a pass there.
Tell me it ain't so, Matt. I can sort of understand old farts like me abandoning their telegear so that they can continue on the slopes. But a young man in his prime?

Ski Bowl on the other hand seems to have everything you would want except consistent snow.
No offense to the Ski Bowl lovers out there, but to me SB is lacking a lot more then just consistent snow. It's tiny (total vert on the upper chair is like 530') and the lifts are sllloooow. Sure the few pow days it gets are great, but you might as well just buy tickets on these days since there are only 3 of them in a good year.

If SB was cheaper it'd be more tempting but the full pass is $390, which is only $10 less then what I'm going to pay for a MHM pass since. With Vista Express the front area has stayed less crowded (at least when they opened it in December). In addition to being guaranteed to get in more skiing, there's the double days: lifts + XC skating, or lifts + Benett Pass, or a triple: lifts + skating + Bennett Pass. You could do that with a ski bowl pass too, but you'll still be driving to MHM.

If you don't want to get a full pass, you might consider the 10 punch, or getting an Offpeak Skibowl pass ($199 for Friday - Sunday).

If you have a pass there will be little temptation to ski in the bc on days with spicey avy hazard (well, hoepfully... ;-))

Ahhhh Lahar Dar...you finally woke from your deep slumber in that cave you've been hiding in. You always like to stir things up!

Tim, it will probably be BOTH. A Baker seasons pass along with my AT and telemark gear. Hopefully I can get out of bed early enough to help you, Rod and Jeff break trail this winter.

Telemon, no worries! I won't be passing up my tele gear any time soon. Especially not after the day I had at Mount Hood today. I spent the day hanging with a tele-geek friend who helped me "pimp my ride". I'm hooked for life. Although a nice light pair of dynafit bindings (instead of my Fritschis) on some Jak BC's (tested those today and loved them!!!) would be sweet. And I'll be gettin a Whistler Express Card again too.

Thats the ticket Matt, the best of both worlds, AT and Telemark gear.....Buy a pass, safer during our normal winters, when large slides lurk during storms....although Baker is losing it's charm.
