Verizon and Sprint dual mode phones are sold so their customers can roam overseas with other carriers who use GSM technology. They do not have roam agreements with AT&T or TMobile.
On a related subject, satellite phone services are now being offered at somewhat lower prices. Do not have info immediately available but will try to get some details. Probably still priced for those who can afford Kastle or DPS skis and heli skiing.
