Cloud Cap Rd *NOT* opening on June 1st

June 1st Update:<br>A week ago the Hood River USFS office, 541-352-6002, informed me Cloud Cap Rd would open to Cloud Cap June 1st. I spoke with them again today. They stated their engineer had a few hours ago returned from reviewing the road. The engineer was dismayed to find that someone had *gasp* driven around the gate leaving "10" ruts" (sic) in the road, and that the road was very wet and "a mess". They stated unless we get another period of hot weather it'll be "2-3 weeks" before the road opens all the way. The road is currently gated "a bit past Inspiration Point"(sic). <br><br>So, Yes, Jonathan I may hike up from where it's gated soon.<br><br>PS: Timberline's precip gauge shows 1.77"s in the past 24 hours!<br><br> Snowdome tracks photo

But you'll still hike up from lower down just like we did last year,<br>so that you can feel you've earned this view, right?<br>
