For those looking to do the south chutes some time soon, some info on road conditions to the South Climb trailhead for Mt. Adams... If you have 4 wheel drive or good clearance, as of 4/23, you can get to about 1-1.25 miles from Morrison Creek Campground which puts you 4+ miles from the trailhead. Without good clearance or 4-wheel drive, there is a short, muddy section with deep ruts that will stop your drive up a few miles below that. Perhaps the rain this weekend -- and there was lots of it down there -- will improve things but it seems like it will still be a few weeks before one can get all the way to the trailhead. ???
