However, it probably won't be updated for another month.
You'll be best off to just call:

Here's a shameless plug: I just finished the annual updating of the backcountry access pages on my site (GP and MBS National Forests seem to change their page addresses often > ) The pages work just like those in the Weather Links section (virtual folders of links where the navigation menu stays constant). The government info pages can be useful this time of year, but sometimes a call can yield more current or detailed info (still no guarantee that it is accurate, though). The Access Links section can be accessed by clicking the button at the top of any page.

BTW, here's what the FS says now (dated April 21, 2003):<br><br>"Snow blocks vehicle travel on the primary access roads from Trout Lake to the South Climb. Road 8040 is blocked by snow one mile past Wicky Shelter. This is approximately 6 miles from Cold Springs, the summer trailhead for the South Climb. At Cold Springs there is still 7 feet of snow. Melt out will probably occur in late June."

Wow, open to within 6 miles of the end. That's pretty good for this time of year.

Or, depending on how you look at it, pretty bad!
