Crystal - 04/16 Last Thursday Pow day or the Season! was created by ddk
PS - shoulda posted this as a follow up for CascadeSkier (who are you),,,but seem to remember another time
earlier this season...so my less info version of today....
Ski Report - Short ultra late version for an ultra-short morning...
Big new cold smoke snow, marginal early vis in places, great grooming
(well LS) with boot top new on the steeper slopes...big smallish
Powder frenzy early that kept getting bigger. Rocks? Weird ones in
weird places. Otherwise, great improvement from last Thursday. Saw
happy tracks all over the Valley as the low clouds cleared...some
really awesome lines down PB! Felt like winter with full winter
body armor and head bucket also!
More Words - Reasonable early crowd of all the "normal" locals
crowd for CHex first load. GVex always looked to "full" for me
to go that far north...heard it was not that bad. Rex never had
a line it was blissfully quiet. Finished my ultra short day by
riding FQex once...checked out empty CB lodge...which when the
finally open to sell food had a number of very nice looking sandwiches
and wraps to go...no pizza...so sad... Skied Queens to SnowGarden to
SlowSilver for #1 (she shoulda gone!) which was still skiing very
nice...but the cold wind blowing up valley decided I had wimped along
for enough time. Fun morning! Cold morning! Winter skiing with great
packed pow groomers and lots of boot top fun to be had...last run
down LS the last pitch was getting sun baked mash muck...
Other - Special folks lot had folks looking for a space when I left...rest
of A lot was pushing way past half full? B and C might have been pushing
3/4 if there was parking lot help.
Other Other - Drive up was pleasantly (luckily) early and a winter
wonder land...noticed some elk in typical places. Drive down was
almost as pleasant...with a few tourists (or Sunday drivers) to deal
with....Last Thursday...tomorrow is the last Friday...Ouch!
