Ski Report - Short version, there is still snow, there is still fun to
be had and I really like skiing...even if it is like an old person.
The way too many words report -
Big Sunny, Not Big Crowd, Not Big Hot...kinda coolish early
made for better early quality Ice groomers...almost since the Big orb in
the sky already was baking the Big Sunny slopes. CHex had a chair problem
just before opening...so most folks bolted to the Bucket...Lounged in the
base lodge for an extra 15 minutes...conditions on the mountain did not
feel impacted. Never rode a lift with anybody today...even one ride on FQex.
Good grooming on the groomers I did (not many). Did the Hamster Treadmill
routine for a while on LS...skied sweet early...nice an icy in places and
perfect soft turns on the south facing steeps. Did head out way farther
north than recently...Did baby Pro Course to Bills Face for a 1st ride on
GVex in a long time...once was just enough so did the backside cat track
to LS...way better than expected. Did a few more LS runs via the front side.
Then it was getting way late in the day (11am?) so headed to CB lodge to
harass the employees....and finished my ultra long morning with a run for
#1 down Queens to SnowGarden to Slow Silver...all was very nice and not a
sticky place to be found...Slow Silver slope is actually awesomely nice.
Other - As noted I passed thru CB lodge...no warm food but they actually had
some wraps and hoggies to go...amazing! Base had the typically not
enticing food.
Other Other - Special folks' lot was busting at the seams, rest of A was
pushing at least a row or so past the Alpine Inn Bridge. B could have been
full to the Honey Bucket station and C actually had a number of cars to
its Bucket station. Drive up was ultra-light and happy, drive down was
almost as nice. Did have one Elk on the drive up doing the stand in the
road and think about which direction it was heading. FUN DAY!
