I woke up early this morning and checked the weather, webcams, pass report. It said sunny day with filtered sun, getting worse in the afternoon. What the hell, might as well go. I got up there about 10 to a fairly empty parking lot, no lift lines and very good visibility. It was a 90% groomer day but fortunately I was on my groomer zoomers. Bigger Chief, Seventh Heaven, and the Backside were closed. The ski patrol person at the top of Tye said that they were thinking about opening Jupiter but only if it softened up enough. I left about 1 o'clock and it hadn't opened by then. Bigger Chief is looking really bad. It doesn't look like there's enough snow to run a snow cat on it as there are quite a few bare streaks and bare spots. The rest of the front side had decent coverage. The worst of it was the top of the ridge run on Skyline, there were a bunch of churned up rocks and bare spots on the left-hand side. Parts of the mountain corned up nicely on the groomers. It was one of those days that I skied straight through with no break and left a bit early. It was worth going just for the mostly sunny day bombing groomers.
