Ski Report Been a while since I've skied and the lack of posting from others hurts my brain even more...oh well...finally got
onto the slopes and gotta say my brain is happy even with the crappy conditions....
More Words post - Been mentally hurting for the last week and a half not skiing! Finally! Ski quality and other
aspects of skiing at Xtal in a very sad year! (only ones that have been worse is when I've had a broken leg)
Got first CHex ride and first Rex chair...hhhmmm...skied front side cat track to LS...okay...skied the one cat
track path below PB...okay...looked at the ungroomed (who would have thought?)...been a while since I've done
the brown Chicken Shot!...and I survived! Headed over to FQex, had some nice runs as the sun softened the
slopes. Best over there was SS (slow silver) area, untracked and smooth and groomed and it provided the
only reasonable way back to Rex (thanks Jan and Gary for the tip). Skied a couple of LS runs around 1030,
very spring soft. Upper steep pitch on LS was great, lower steep pitch was a dodging rock fest...probably
should have done the skier right side bumps...if I had any ski legs. Finished with one last run down
Queens for #1 and made my "new" old person minimum vert to count the day as a ski day! Yee Haa!
Other - Passed through CB lodge just to see how dead it was and it was dead. Harassed lots of employees at
the base as I left and picked up a very "Manly Meat orggassmick" pizza...ouch! The vegy looks awesome...wish
I was a better person.
Other other - Drove up to early as usual and it was very pleasant, no elk noticed. Left Xtal ultra early and
the Special folks lot was pretty empty, rest of A lot had a couple rows, B lot was sort of full to the Honey
Bucket station, C was mostly parked around the Bucket station...and that was the pretty much it!
Gotta say the season that was supposed to be and "average" year is way below expectations. Next couple of
warm days sound like Hawaii shirt weather (maybe)...definitely not helmet weather! I'm ready!
