Lot's of black ice in the lowlands this morning, but 410 was fine. A steady stream of early traffic heading to the mountain. Patrol told me they maxed parking reservations at 7,000 cars today, however, they weren't at capacity as F-Lot was empty. Upstairs in the new lodge was open this morning and Campbell Basin opened for food at 10:30. The lifts opened at 8:30. The day started with bluebird skies which was a nice late Christmas present. While coverage was thin in the usual places, I was very surprised at the great coverage on upper mountain. Three runs on C6 where the snow was the best and I was able to ski mainline on the Powder Bowl side. GV Bowl was also really good. Snorting Elk was a little rough as it was unconsolidated and the run out the bottom was tough. Ann's Run was a little gnarly, but repeatable. About the only thing I couldn't ski was Bear Pits and Brooklyn's. However, patrol told me the lower gate to BP would be open tomorrow as well as Willy's up in the Valley. It started snowing hard at noon, so I left with my 25K. Not a bad first day and no rock hits on my skis.
