Mostly bluebird skies and light participation, although mid-morning seemed like lots of parents showed up with pre-school kids. Still, never a line. First load up and the groomers below REX were a skating rink. Once on top, a different story. GV was smooth with 4 - 5 inches new. The stuff on top was a little heavy, but that was OK because the stuff underneath was pretty hard. It skied really good. Ferkberg was firm, but nicely groomed, so the first several runs were GV to Ferkberg. Once the snow got skied out in the valley, it got a little funky. I followed EHJ into Breakover and was rewarded with 10 very nice turns, then not so nice, then horrible. I traversed out to Lucky Shot. Headed out to Northway and lots of folks turning off to Paradise Bowl, so I kept going to Horseshoe Chutes. The right chute had a huge bomb crater in it, but the left chute was untracked and very nice. Forgot how much I liked that run. Unfortunately, the runout was not groomed and the 4 - 5 inches of new was really heavy. Required speed and gorilla turns. No repeat. Tried Brooklyn's, but lot's of glop had fallen off the trees kinda wrecking things. So, ended up skiing a lot of GV ridge to Ferkberg for the rest of the day. Ferkberg got really nice, almost corn snow that you sprayed when turning. On the way out, all the frozen wasteland at the bottom had softened and gotten grabby. Never warmed up enough to shed the coat. Tomorrow's forecasted rain won't help anything.
