The place was empty. The visibility was decent enough. It stayed reasonably cool all day, with some light snow showers. The groomers did get scrappy but I spent very little time on the groomers. Off piste was surprisingly fun with the low expectations we had for the day. In areas with a smooth underlayer the 2 to 3 inches of new skied quite nicely. In areas where there were some frozen rats and chicken heads made for a different story. I was able to find way more smooth areas than chicken heads. Tye and Jupiter were running. Jupiter was one and done because of way too many chicken heads and icy groomers. Tye was worth repeats. It looks like Southern Cross/Double Diamond are closed for the season. We had a group of five today and everybody skied well. The stoke-o-meter climbed way off the peg.
