Ski Report - Spring just hit overdrive! Warm enough from the first chair
ride...well I was ultra downsizing after my first run (down MIFB)...and
even that first downsizing was probably not enough. No real grooming, though
from what I eventually saw it was better on FQex runs. Not much grooming
off of REX which I expected...but Upper Ferks to MIFB was mighty fine and
worth all my repeats. MIFB was ungroomed and still good enough on my first
run and got better every run I did...fall line baby bumps, skied enough to
be pleasant...but then there was the run out at the bottom back to REX...
Ouch! That happy herky jerky routine...please don't screw up skiing! Mostly
light crowds while I was skiing. #1 started over on FQex and was not
impressed with it on her skis. She spent too much time in CB lodge.
After three or four runs late morning (10:30?) down MIFB I headed over
to CB lodge for the promised Pizza special...and after that we did one last
survival run to the base via the shady sections of Queens to Snow Garden
to Slow Silver and the painful Disco Flats...it was the end of our day. Twas
fun at times and hopefully tomorrow will be at least as good.
Other - As noted I already knew the Pizza special would be good...and it
was very good...Barby sauce with Chicken and onions and a drizzle of spicy
Honey! Very good other than this seasons crappy crust.
Other Other - Special folks parking had a lot of cars, rest of A was pushing
2/3, B had a lot of cars that might have filled half the lot on a busy weekend,
C had lots of cars. Drive up extra early ($62 day) was pleasant and the drive
down was equally pleasant other than the one finger solute I got from someone
I passed.
OTHER OTHER OTHER! - The scoop from a mechanic this morning is that Xtal is
in talks about replacing REX...and praise the lord the plan is for replacing
it with a newer version which will still be a 4pack in the exact same
alignment using the same towers (or at least the same footings)! Yee Haa...
glad it's not gonna be a 6pack dumping out next to an 8pack bucket...Word was
REX will be the only firm new replacement...but who really knows!
