Crystal - 02/06 Big Morning Sun and Cold

Ski Report - Sunny morning, cold (duh), relatively light winds, pretty nice grooming, how much new? Looked pretty nice from folks skiing the Doors or some frontside REX lines (probably better skiers than I these days). Noticed big fun in CB Basin and the King....while I warmed up wimpyly in CB lodge. Had fun skiing with #1. Actually great conditions on FQex. Bigger crowds than expected...but Xtal is full of special folks' events today and for the rest of the month. We left early as usual....so sad....Really didn't have any lift lines where I was today, but there was a bunch of folks at times on the slopes...kinda like driving I5 to Portland....and some of those clusters were fast.

Other - CB lodge had folks in there today and was prepping for massive crowds! #1 had fries, I had half a sandwich from Hess Bakery in Lakewood! Ouch! Can't wait to eat the other half.

Other Other - Lucky early drive was mellow and empty and happy...one collared elk around the burn area. When we left the Special folks lot had space, and the A lot was not full...with a bus in the end area....B lot? Lordy almost full as was C lot and D lot and....that was the end. Lots of folks at Xtal and it's not even a holiday week! Drive down was happy sunny pleasant...mostly.

Run of the day, or year, was the south side of the king, no tracks, no bottom! Yesterday it was good, but today it was even more better. Frontside/Memorial in the morning was ok at the top, but lower half had deep pockets of fresh snow followed by icy patches. O-meadows was still good, and the end of a well rounded day was Employee Housing, but beware, I think they close the upper entrance at 3pm, so you have to enter Employee Housing by going down Right Angle then stay left to find the marked gate.

Some really deep untracked in the chutes off threeway and SE trees. A basin got pretty worked but Sasquatch was in fine form.
