Crystal 1/22 - Big Sun, Light Crowds was created by CD
Beautiful weather today. It felt colder than the telemetry indicated and it never really warmed up. A mostly groomer day with the exception of GV Bowl and Ann's run. Crystal is grooming wall-to-wall and they're doing a good job given the recent lack of snow to work with. Went through the 'Claw at 7am and had Non-existent traffic, but a few elk outside of Greenwater. More traffic heading down at 1pm. Roads were bare and dry, so the car stayed relatively clean.

Lordy Lordy....CD post already? Huh! So here is my wordier version:
Ski Report -Short version big fun.
The wordy version - Big sun, Big grooming, not Big crowds, Big hurt quads, Big views....but it was a very fine though shorter ski day for me than yesterday. Some great grooming, but some of the south exposures were way more firm than yesterday. GV Bumps skier right side...awesome fun...many repeats, MIFB early was mostly IB....almost got good for a while in the sun, but the few folks around managed to scrap a fair number of spots down to the ice....should have been awesome by 1pm in the HOT sun. LS probably had the best grooming and held up quality wise the longest. Twas a lot warmer than yesterday with nice light winds. No lift lines at all today when I was there. Still great coverage in the core area, but Xtal is starting to shut down areas....like Kellys Gap and maybe other areas on the lower front side. Fun day which for the first two hours kept my vert per hour in high gear. As is usual for the hamster all I really skied was LS, GV Bowl (many times) and MIFB. Couple of runs down the Valley center area and one run down Queens to SlowSilver for #1...Queens still good at 11:30...SlowSilver not so nice. Had fun as usual especially with the lack of participation on the slopes.
Other - Hiked up to see what was happening at the top lodge...not much...and the menu looked expensive as usual...but the views were BIG! Went to CB lodge to harass the employees...pleasant but the typical usual. Comment was...Yes it would be nice to have some variety in the soup selection....ha ha. Xtal is micromanaging the food service...down to the penny and gotta say it is the worst food service I've seen at Crystal in my onky eating days.
Other Other - Special folks lot not very full, big empty space between that area and the rest of A lot, Pay lot was maybe half full, B was the usual up to the portohpotty station, C had a lot less cars then yesterday. Drive up was early than usual and pleasant with Elk again just past the last road in the Village area. Drive down was ultra pleasant till I got to Krans Corner and from that point home it was pure ouch!
