Crystal - 01/21 Yee Haa

Ski Report - Short post from my phone...no internet at home...great day! Will post more words later since I don't do phone typing very well. Very happy day for a rodent. Maybe BB will post some opinions...

And at 8pm finally got cable and internet....and the rest of my post:

Ski Report - Big cold sunny, ultra-light crowd, wall to wall grooming everywhere. Most fun for me was GV Bowl below the last Gondy tower! MIFB was pretty good put was getting scrapped down to ice in places, LS actually had better quality grooming that lasted longer today. Ultra blue sky with big views and a very cold wind at the top of REX. Only did one run on FQex which was Downhill to Rolling K....skied okay and I did one run out Elksnort area towards Northway. Only skied 3 hours but it was fast and got me a new season to date vert high, most of which was GV Bowl to MIFB.

Other - Passed through CB lodge long enough to harass the employees about the quality of the food, did the same at the base as I was leaving...gotta send that email to Xtal about some of the new stuff this season.

Other Other - Special folks parking was pushing half full, rest of A was also pushing half full, B was badly spaced rows past the portapotty station, C seemed to have a fair number of cars. Drive early was nice after I got out of the lowlands and past a couple careful drivers, noticed some Elk butts just passed Crystal Village area. Drive down was ultra pleasant in the sun.

Cold and fast, really fast. Pretty much a groomer day, and making use of my COVID mask. Thanks to ddk for showing the line in GV Bowl (lookers left). We finally saw a couple of takers on PB and gave that a try. The ridge was rugged, rocks and bumps, then a little scary until about 1/3 of the way down, then smooth and very nice. The transition to shade in lower GV was pretty dramatic. Thanks to the grooming crew for smoothing things out since I was skiing blind for about 30 seconds there. It did not really warm up today so LS and MIFB stayed firm at least until noon when we headed out.
