Ski Report - Holiday Thursday or Not...big question at the base this morning...Xtal said not with a delayed CHex opening after 8:45....hhhhmmm. Crowds and opinions said it was still a holiday Thursday. Snow quality impacted by all the recent sun and temps during the day, I really noticed it in GV Bowl my first try - Ouch! All improved after a few groomer runs down MIFB and LS. Skier right in GV Bowl top got happier for me as the morning progressed. Grooming was okay but I can't say perfect, wind blow and skier fluff on the edges got better and better. Coverage is still great and should get a good hit from the Fri/Sat storm. Heard one young visiting lady that what she did in CB Basin and PB were not prime time for her. Heard that Mr. EH did it 6 times yesterday...no clue about today. Have heard that I5 is snow cat wide all the way out past EH. Twas a little windy and grey with some snowflakes falling at times. Good day for my quad exercise program.
Other - Passed through CB lodge to see what food service is like....Pizza is apparently the same cardboard quality as the base (Pizza head cook said he has asked to be able to use real roll out dough...hhhhmm?) Xtal has replaced the assembly line burger foil wraps with high employee effort little box's - probably keeps them from turning into mush bombs. New head food service person apparently has lots of quality suggestions, heard that the grab and go stuff has a very limited display time.
Other Other - Drive up more typical old school early time and was at happy speed, Not so on the new to early drive down time? Xtal garbage trucks, weird drivers that randomly speed up or slow down for why? Special folks' lot was plenty empty today, rest of A was pushing 4/5's full, B was full of a mess of random parking rows...till the last quarter when there must have been some parking help. C, D, E all full, with cars parking in G lot and lots of folks standing around waiting for shuttles...lots of folks heading up 410 as I left.
