Stevens December 26

I am new to posting, but I will provide a short update. 8 inches overnight with another 3 inches before opening. Patrol and ops did a fantastic job in quickly getting the back open by 0930. Medium to Medium dense snow on the slow side (I had to point it) on the backside. It is bottomless in many spots, but we still need to look for chunder and buried obstacles lurking at lower elevations on the back side. The creek bed at the bottom is not fully covered either, so we have to traverse out early. DD was fantastic today, filled aside from some occasional bumps mid to lower. The creek bed is still in play at the bottom (Stay right). It's a fantastic day. It's snowing hard all day. Telemetry read 18-inch storm totals at noon. I did not wait in line, but perhaps I was lucky (DD, Kehrs, Backside). My official rating for the day is 7-8 of 10 for a powder day. The next storm is going south, but Friday night to Saturday should deliver new snow gods to the Cascade Range. Stevens did not have any wind either while it was snowing, aside from gusts forming near 11 AM. Crystal was pretty much shut down in many areas today from the website Kudos to operations, and Patrol.

Welcome to TAY. I listen to your reports on The Flakes podcast and it's nice to see that you made it up to the PNW. This latest storm was good to us, even if the powder was a bit "settled," as we say in the Cascades.

Good to hear! Stevens is great, and tonight will be even better as the temps drop. I wish I were there. Jackson tonight, but the storm is underperforming a bit right now. I am scared to look at the telemetry at Stevens for fear of losing sleep . The Flakes is back this year I think, but I wont be on every week. You can follow on OpenSnow "Chase Powder"
