We started skiing about 10:30. The only lifts open were Skyline, Brooks, and Daisy. There was a line back to the end of the Maze on Sky and it remain there for the first couple of runs, then it rapidly went down and became pretty much walk up - get on. There was limited grooming and groomed areas were not very wide so it was dodgeball city on the groomers. The snow on the groomers wasn't bad early but rapidly deteriorated to pile skiing, skiing the edges, and then pretty much everything being firm too icy. The best snow is in the upper bowl area of skyline, which had chalk snow and developed some fun bumps. All of our usual off piste areas varied from skiable, to work, to getting better as the day wore on and they got more skied in. There were lots of areas where of piste was unskiable. The light was pretty flat, especially early and higher up on Skyline. It got better as the day went on. We ended up quitting a early as it did get a bit old skiing the same runs on sky over and over. We probably got maybe 10 runs total. The drive up and the drive back we're pretty much bare and dry. I didn't hit any rocks. there were lots of creek holes and pucker brush. It looked like there was enough snow to ski Kehrs and possibly Hogs but you know how Vail is, they are probably saving those for the weekend.
