Crystal - 04/21 Another Winter Day

Ski Report - Ultra early fair sized crowd waiting in the Bucket line this morning....fuzzy vis up top, but moments of good enough vis in GV Bowl to have some fun carving the 2 to 4 new with the happy Coombas (haven't gotten them out of the garage much this season)....surprising wind scoured areas up top...upper Ferks area and top of MIFB, heard and saw negatives from some folks doing the front side of REX...north facing was the best but the only area I did was GV Bowl....by the time I thought about doing  GVex it looked pretty packed....twas a pretty big crowd for a Friday at the end of the season.  Had some good turns and had some not so good turns and I quit extra early cause one week off my quads were hurting?  The Bucket lineup wrapped around the building this morning...I managed to get first bucket.

Other - Passed through the top lodge and the soup was Tomato Bazil maybe...checked out Tower 16 for the first time this season...was kinda interesting seeing it.  Base area was in lock down including the stalls in the men's room?  Crystal installed new walls and doors this last week...but no tp dispensers....sign indicated the port a pottys at the top of A lot were all that was available...heard a number of employees going...WHAT???   The  A lot special folks and pay lot full (bottom half of A lot open for everyone), B lot full beyond the shuttle stop and C was mostly clustered around the shuttle stop, so it was a fair sized crowd of cars at least.   Drive up and down was at happy end of season speed....noticed lots of random elk in random places but mostly far from 410.   Twas mostly fun to ski another day....but not getting to ski to the base was a pain in the !!!!....excuse about construction in Disco Medows is pretty bogus since nothing is happening on Skid Road!  Oh well another ski day in the never-ending winter...maybe if the forecast turns out true we might get some sun for next weekend....but that's a long time from now.

And now for the PM report... saw ddk driving down as we drove up.  Frontside was baked, GV better, LS ok, and some nice thicker pow in the treed part of middle/lower bear pits.  Nobody was telling us to hike up as we unloaded top of GV at 1:57, continued straight over to LS and as we approached base of REX it was not running and patrol was directing people to the bottom.  Good plan, hope they continue to operate this way.
