First the bad, there's still a lot of puckerbrush sticking out and the occasional rock, the visibility was just OK, with the afternoon getting challenging with a freezing fog rolling in. Using a skigee, about three times per run, solved that. Skyline was down for about an hour and when it was running it was running on diesel.
Now the good, there was about 3 inches of light fluffy snow from the get-go and it snowed about an inch and a half while I was skiing. Things were pretty good. Still not much grooming at all, but the skied out places did not get too scrappy. There were still lots and lots of bumps. The off piste stuff skied surprisingly well. You bottom out on some reasonably forgiving stuff and I found if I took it easy I could make it fun. None to very minimal lift lines, Brooks, Sky, Hogs, Tye, Seventh and Chief were open.
It left me smiling.
