Ski Report Short - Prime from the start!
Wordy report - If you were willing to ski LS or ProCourseLeft/MIFB or the massive grooming in the Valley (2 Pro Courses, Bills Face? West Face! All the main center Valley groomers)...Soft enough from the start and only got softer. Did a bunch of GV Bowl center lines late morning and one SunnySide proper which skied okay but more traffic and more sun would have really set if off. Ski to the base via Skid Road (new name?) was the best I've done this late in the season. Rocks? some dug up by the cat crew at the bottom exit of MIFB - I picked up a bunch. It is some of the easiest great conditions to ski to the base I've ever seen! Snow pack is DEEP! It is awesome! Started spritzing snow during the 11 o'clock hour. Most of the day looked nasty from the big broken clouds, felt a little cool - dressed light, when the sun popped out it was very very warm. Great Morning....The Glass was well over half full and full of bricks of salt.
Other - Small early lineup for the Bucket...I actually finally got into the first bucket even though I've been first or third most of my recent days...whine whine....No other actual lift lineups...had to ride the lifts with folks which is always okay and interesting...but never had to wait for a seat. Did a late morning stop to eat some chicken limey tacos at the base - very good, paying $5 buckets for each baby taco seemed excessive - ouch! Was hailing while I sat on the patio. A lot was full when I left, C had some cars in it....and that was about it! Nice light crowd...tomorrow? Drive up nice and mostly quiet, drive down even mellower. Notice a few Elk in random places, all well off the road.
Other Interesting Sightings - Saw a big dark object in the middle of GV Bowl early morning...paused to talk to Bryon (ski patrol)....he pointed out the object was moving - it was a Marmot! Enjoying the morning sunshine before the main crowd showed up. Also sighted a Grand Poobah of Powder! The one and only Larry Schick - Twas nice to talk to him today. A very fun day in late May.
