The Alpine opened late morning today. It was skiable, but very windblown even in the trees. Peak didn’t open until really late and had no grooming. Wind drifts and bad visibility don’t mix very well. The lines were very, but Harmony long at Peak all day, but the Harmony 20 min line got killed off by bad visibility, that sent most scurrying back down Pika’s Traverse… Symphony had no lines, but the 2’ stiff slab wasn’t real good on low angle. I know that the Alpine opened earlier at Blackcomb and was about to go over when Harmony cracked open. I’m certain that “Scoured Heaven” was Scoured, and Glacier is always tough in bad light with no trees…But I suppose the steep windblown could have skied ok on Spankey’s. I think that was the best call of the storm - yesterday…
The mountain skied fantastic today on the groomed runs. Soft pack up top, and semi-soft at mid mountain, and good nonnsticky corn/slush for the skiouts. Good visability with some sun! 5k top to bottom was working! I wanted deep Alpine fluff - but it was April…Powder pictures are fake news…
