Crystal- 01/10/22

Ski Report - Started snowing just before the lifts started loading and was dumping for a short while, then sun, then clouds, then wind then something else (mist on goggles?).   Pretty fun day for #1, after her  FQex morning routine, got her up to the top for a LS run - very nice.  Very firm snow in places - not packed powder anymore, pretty good grooming and the snowpack is getting deeper - with the exception of PB where the entire skiers right side slid to the ground and blew down Little Portillo, through the LS Trees and across lower LS all the way over to Chicken Shot!  Ouch! A really big one...Crystal seems to get some really big slides when they try.  Good day, light crowd finally, would have been prime except for lifts running on diesel again (still).  Hope the big wet don't happen tomorrow.

Other - Finally got lucky at CB lodge with a very expensive and tasty bowl of Chicken Noodle...it's been a long time wait at Crystal.  Lots of happy folks in CB lodge - many from the other closed ski areas, even saw the Grand Poobah!

Other Other - Drive up and down was back to empty bare pavement.   Pay lot was spread out half fullish, Carpool area was mostly empty, rest of C pushing full, and B was maybe halfish?

No more Lucky Shot trees.   

Yes!  It was a very good day. No lift lines to speak of.  The visibility was pretty good most of the day with some big sunny  sucker holes.   I thought the groomers were in good shape. We did a couple top to bottom finishing up on Lower Bull / Ferks.  Green Valley skied well as did Snorting Elk.  Even Lucky Shot and MIFB were fun.  We didn't feel the need to venture out to Northway or 6 as the rest of the mountain was skiing really well.  

Yep I wanted to launch the crown on powder bowl but instead went and sent the King, too much Imperial stouts and Christmas break is weaking my fitness waa, waa. Still a really fun rippin day!
