Ski Report -Nice and cold snow (better to start than yesterday), Great grooming on FQex for #1 on her first day, very nice vis all morning with blue trying to poke through the clouds, cold (wish I had added one more layer for the FQex morning). Lots of left-over deep snow off of FQex and lower SlowSilver areas made me happier. Heard bigness from bigger folks skiing off the top - aaahhhh, its sometime very hard to be nice (Rocky Horror). Lots of folks lined up for HC and saw some very nice turns being laid down while we were in CB lodge to warm up. Snow quality greatly improved with the cold temps - the leftovers should be big tomorrow! Great first day for #1 and the EXP's skied like champs!
Other - Drive up early had its plus and minus moments (way better than yesterday). Still packed snow on most of 410, but if the leader of the pack was not doing 30 (or less) the drive was very nice. Drive down early again was very pleasant - except for the big box truck around Greenwater - total jerk.
Other Other - The new normal looks to be big lineups even on weekdays for opening...smaller than yesterday, but still a fair-sized crowd. Would not have been a big issue early except the lifts were running on diesel again and REX looked painfully slow.
Other Other Other - When we left A lot was kinda a haphazard mess but maybe only half full. Whereas B and C were completely packed with lots of folks waiting for cattle cars. Same at D and E with some folks waiting for a ride from G lot after skiing out of Northway areas.
Fun Great Day - apparently better than the Pass's.

I skied Crystal today. It was pretty good. The snow was a bit windblown and thick in a lot of places but there were some nice powder stashes to be had especially on chair six. It was pretty full of skiers but the lines weren't bad. We did run into a big line on the Northway chair after our lunch break and a pretty good line about 1030 on Green Valley. The light was kind of flat but did improve for a few runs in the middle of the day. The drive up and the drive down we're slow but not terrible. It's nice to ski an area that has all of their lifts open. After all the bummers I've had this ski season, it was nice to be reminded of why I am a skier.
A grade B day.
